About The Tour

The Rosbifs and Snails 2CV Route du Soleil Tour took place in June 2007. It was an epic tour to the South of France in cars which should probably have been scrapped years earlier, being driven by gentlemen who ought to have know better! The Tour raised over £80,000 for The Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust.

118118 provided a significant donation to the event and were the tour's main sponsor. All of the 2CV cars were painted white and branded with the well known 118 red stripe logo.

Marlow to Monaco!

After 6 days driving and a short visit to the Italian border, where the RN7 ends, the tour finally pulled into Monte Carlo's Casino Square. It caused quite a stir parking amongst the Rollers, Astons and Bentleys.

Were there any Rules?

Of course there were.......
  1. Teams of two will drive 2CV "Snails" from Marlow to Monaco avoiding autoroutes to Fontainebleau and then joining the old Route Nationale 7 to Monaco.
  2. The return will by air with the cars returning to the UK on the back of a transporter.
  3. The cars should cost no more than £777 excluding car tax (why £777, it's the RN7 and why not?) and of course be MOT'd and insured.
  4. Each team must split the cost of the car and can sell it on their return to the UK. With a competition history it's sure to be worth more!
  5. We are raising funds for the Thames Valley & Chiltern Air Ambulance Trust so sponsorship of the "Snails" is required. Sign writing and logos will be arranged by the organisers.
  6. Accommodation and travel expenses are to be borne by each team and will be arranged and coordinated by the organisers.
  7. This is not a journey to be taken lightly...it is going to be seriously good fun

That's the rules! Complet!
